C L O R

Lately, I have been on a quest to expose myself to new music. So far, that quest is pretty good - in the last few days, I've become acquainted two bands that are well worth mentioning - Mogwai and Clor.

Now, just about everyone who's into indie music has heard of Mogwai - the mostly-instrumental, post-rock icons who can create a wall of sound rivaling Jericho. (You know, Joshua and the walls? Nevermind.) I really like Mogwai - it fits well into a playlist alongside chillout and downtempo and stuff.

This post, however, is all about the indie band Clor.

Clor makes me think of these things when I listen to them:

"This sounds like Ladytron on some really good drugs."
"This is good music to go insane to."
"I am not sure whether to dance or not."
"Why have I listened to this song so many times in a row?"

Describing Clor adequately is not easy, and for some reason, I'm not in a very literary mood right now, so you're going to have to listen to them... but expect guitars, synths, lyrics that almost make sense, angular / jerky melodies, and the desire to just put your media player on "Repeat Track."

Sadly enough, Clor broke up a few years ago due to creative differences. However, those creative differences are very evident in their work, and I mean that in the best possible way. It makes their music sound like nothing I've ever heard before.

Clor - Love and Pain

Clor - Dangerzone

I absolutely agree with you. I adore CLOR! Unfortunately nobody knows them. It'a pity!
